HOW TO WAKE UP HAPPY

I love planning.

Planning makes me happy.

Studying to be a life coach kick started my passion for planning. It encouraged me to think and list all of the things in life I wanted to achieve and experience, from big ambitions like starting a business and buying my dream house to hobbies and interests like going paddle boarding and learning how to cook amazing Indian food….still on my list!

Nothing motivated me more than writing these things down, breaking each one up into achievable steps and then implementing them into my yearly/monthly and weekly plans.

So now, at the beginning of each week I list everything I want to achieve and then split these things into each day. I list the things I need to do but I also make sure I add the things I want to enjoy each day too. Even if it’s just to listen to an e-book in a café for half an hour or take my niece for an ice cream, it’s hugely important to me to look forward to my week and enjoy each day of it.

Every now and again I need more energy though, more motivation to boost my daily mood and keep my outlook happy and healthy. Don’t we all?

In the last two years I’ve taught myself how to keep my spirits really high through practicing visualisation. However, I tend to be drawn towards visualising the future, say 2-3 years ahead of where I am now. I do this because it raises my vibration and helps me to relax and know where I’m heading… which keeps me smiling. Being clear about what I want and what’s in my future also helps me make choices easily and it keeps me confident and optimistic so that no decisions are made from fear.

There is one specific visualisation that I know I’ll always practice however - every now and again I find it really effective to visualise and focus on a smaller section of my life, like tomorrow.

Normally I do this when I don’t feel inspired or excited enough about my “list” or perhaps when I’m feeling anxious and hesitant about something. Do you feel that way sometimes?

If you do, the next time you have that “night before” feeling, wait until you’re tucked up in bed, relaxed and about to nod off, then think about tomorrow, from the moment you wake up to the moment your head hits the pillow again. Think about all of the ways that you could add happiness to your tomorrow. Watch your day from the start to the finish, all going perfectly well and watch everything run smoothly and enjoyably.

What do you include? What changes will you make to add more fun to your day? Who will you spend time with? What will you do? Where will you go? What will you eat? Who will you make smile?

Go into as much detail as possible when you imagine your perfect tomorrow.

When I practice this visualisation, I find that thoughts and ideas flow naturally into my mind, easier than they do when I’m writing my lists. For example I’ll visualise what I choose to wear tomorrow to feel good, I’ll decide to start my day in a local café and enjoy my favourite smoothie, I’ll experience a successful day at work where new ideas and solutions to problems simply appear as I look around, I’ll choose to walk home along the seafront feeling happy and calm…

Basically, I include things to add to my tomorrow that wouldn’t occur to me if I hadn’t visualised it in advance.

Doing this as much as possible really helps me as it not only lifts my vibration just before I drift off to sleep and happily dream but, most importantly, I wake up happy.

Feeling happiness in a morning helps us to attract happiness throughout the rest of the day. The more we fill our tomorrows with happiness, the higher our vibes are raised and the more happiness we go on to attract every day.

This is a lovely exercise to do with your children too, it will help them sleep peacefully, wake up more easily excited for the day and the best part is, it works miracles for getting us all off to sleep!

I hope this works well for you :0)
